Connecting to two Bluetooth devices at the same time

Connecting to two Bluetooth devices at the same time

With a standard Bluetooth connection, your earbuds or headphones connect to only one device at a time. With multipoint connection, they can stay connected to two devices at once, such as two smartphones or a smartphone and a computer.

    Before you start:

    • Multipoint connection supports up to two devices at the same time. If you connect a third device, the one that most recently played audio stays connected, and the other device is disconnected.
    • Both devices must support Bluetooth audio connections.
    • Make sure your devices are updated to the latest software version.

    General steps for most devices

These are the general steps to set up multipoint connection. For more specific guidance, check the Device Combinations section.

    1. Turn on Bluetooth on both devices, then pair your earbuds or headphones with each one.

For pairing instructions, check the How to pair Bluetooth headphones with a Bluetooth source device for your model.

    2. Open the [Sony | Sound Connect] app.

You can download the Sony | Sound Connect app from the App Store or Google Play:

*The Sony | Sound Connect app is available for select Sony products.

See the list of supported models

    3. Open the [My Device] tab, then go to [Device settings] → [System].

    4. Turn on [Connect to 2 devices simultaneously].

Note: Your earbuds or headphones may disconnect briefly and then reconnect automatically. This is normal.

    5. Select the two devices you want to use together from the list of connected or paired devices.

    Steps for specific device combinations

If you use two Android phones, you may need to split [Media audio] and [Call audio] between them.

    1. Choose which Android phone you want to use for music or videos.

    2. On that phone, open the Bluetooth settings for your earbuds or headphones and turn off [Phone Call] or [Call audio].

    3. On the second Android phone, open the Bluetooth settings for your earbuds or headphones and turn off [Media audio].

    4. This lets you use one phone for media playback and the other for calls.
