Use the TalkBack feature on your Google TV™

    TalkBack is an accessibility feature that reads aloud text displayed on the TV screen, such as program guides and settings screens, to support users with visual disabilities. It provides information about the item you select and guidance on how to use it.
    An internet connection is required to use the TalkBack feature.

    Before you start

    • When the TalkBack function is turned ON, editing INPUT or Quick settings is not available.
    • For eARC-supported models only: When the TalkBack feature is activated, eARC mode will be set to Off.
    • For models featuring Android™ 10 or later: The Accessibility shortcut function lets you switch the TalkBack feature on or off by pressing and holding the mute key for 3 seconds or more.

    Activate the TalkBack feature from the Quick Settings menu

    1. On the remote control, press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button, then select Settings.
    2. Depending on your TV menu, select one of the following:
      • Select Accessibility.
      • Select SystemAccessibility.
    3. Select TalkBack.
    4. Select Enable and set it to On.
    5. Select OK.

    Note: Once you enable the TalkBack feature, the Accessibility and TalkBack settings will appear in the Quick Settings menu.

    Disable the TalkBack feature from the Quick Settings menu

    1. On the remote control, press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button, then select Settings.
    2. Depending on your TV menu, select one of the following:
      • Select Accessibility.
      • Select SystemAccessibility.
    3. Select TalkBack.
    4. Select Enable and set it to Off.
    5. Select OK.

    Adjust the TalkBack volume in relation to the TV volume

    1. On the remote control, press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button, then select Settings.
    2. Depending on your TV menu, select one of the following:
      • Select Accessibility.
      • Select SystemAccessibility.
    3. Select TalkBack.
    4. Select Configuration.
    5. Select Speech volume.
    6. Select your preferred speech volume from Match media volume to 25% of media volume.
      Note: Match speech volume is the max volume setting for TalkBack.

    Change the speech rate

    1. On the remote control, press the Quick Settings (spanner or gear) button, then select Settings.
    2. Depending on your TV menu, select one of the following:
      • Select Accessibility.
      • Select SystemAccessibility.
    3. Select Text to speech.
    4. Select Speech rate.
    5. Select your preferred speech rate from Very slow to Fastest, or 60% to 400%.
