Preparation

Check the Firmware Version

Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new soundbar. If the version number is 1.094 or 1.095 or higher, you do not need to update.
To check which firmware version you have, follow the steps below:

  1. Turn on the soundbar.
  2. Launch the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app.
  3. Connect the soundbar to the Sony | BRAVIA Connect app.
  4. Connect the subwoofer to the soundbar.
  5. Select Settings in the remote menu.
    [Settings] is at the bottom of the menu.
  6. In the Settings menu, select System Settings.
    [System Settings] is located in the fifth row from the top.
  7. In the System Settings menu, select System Information.
    [System Information] is located in the second row from the bottom.
  8. Confirm the Main Unit firmware version. (Ignore the 00 before the version number.)
    [Software Version] is displayed in the [System Information] screen.

Important Notice

  • Read the instructions carefully.
  • Do not turn off the soundbar or disconnect it from the power while updating.
  • Do not press any buttons, except the ones mentioned in the instructions.
  • Do not unplug the power cable during the update. Doing so may cause damage and require repairs.
  • Do not perform any operation until the update is complete.

Download & Install

If your computer can be connected to the Internet and a USB storage device, you can use the computer to perform the update according to the steps below.

Step 1: Use the Computer to Transfer the Updated Software File to the USB Storage Device

  1. Click the Download button, read and agree to the terms and conditions, then click the Download button again. The download will start.
  2. Save the file on your computer desktop or any location without changing the file name.
    Note: The image below shows “X.XXX-X.XXX” as an example. Replace “X.XXX-X.XXX” in the folder name with “1.094-1.095”.
  3. Find the file on your computer, right-click the file, and then click Properties. If the size is 44.1 MB (46 316 750 bytes), then the download was successful.
    Note: If the size is not 44.1 MB (46 316 750 bytes), the download may have failed. Delete the file from your Computer and download it again.
  4. Double-click the downloaded file and select Extract all, and then select Extract without changing the folder name.
  5. When the extract is completed, a CG1_update_1.094-1.095 folder will be created. Make sure the CG1_update.zip file exists in that folder.
    Note: The image below shows “X.XXX-X.XXX” as an example. Replace “X.XXX-X.XXX” in the folder name with “1.094-1.095”.
  6. Insert the USB storage device into your computer's USB port.
  7. Create a folder named update directly under the root of the USB storage device.
  8. Open the update folder directly under the USB storage device and copy the downloaded CG1_update.zip file by dragging and dropping it.
    Note: Make sure there are no other files and save it directly under the USB storage device.
  9. Confirm that the CG1_update.zip file exists in the update folder on the USB storage device. Once confirmed, the update file transfer is completed and you can proceed to Step 2: Update the Software of This Unit.

Step 2: Update the Software of This Unit

  1. Connect the soundbar power cable.
  2. On the soundbar or remote control, push the (Power) button and wait until the LED display shows the previous input.
  3. Check whether a subwoofer is connected.
    Note: Connect a subwoofer if it is not already connected. If needed, refer to the device's operating instructions for connection details.
  4. Insert the USB storage device containing the software update into the soundbar.
  5. When the soundbar's LED display starts flashing blue and white alternately, the automatic update process has begun.
  6. The LED display on the unit will continue to flash during the update process. The update process takes about 10 minutes.
  7. After the update, the unit will automatically restart, and the LED display will flash white every 2 seconds.
  8. Remove the update USB storage device from the unit.
  9. After updating, unplug the soundbar's power cable and the subwoofer from the AC outlet, then plug them in again. This completes the update process.
  10. Be sure to check that the software has been updated to the latest version by referring to the procedure in the Check the Firmware Version section of this page. If the correct version is not displayed, please check the version again after initializing the unit.
    • If you perform an initialization, the Bluetooth pairing information will also be deleted, so please perform the pairing again.
    • Depending on the connected device, it may be necessary to delete the Bluetooth device information on the connected device and then re-pair.
    • Also, the connection with the subwoofer may be disconnected. In that case, check the Connecting the Subwoofer manually section in the instruction manual, and then connect.

Initialization Method

  • Press the (Power) button for 10 seconds or longer.
    Note: Please check the instruction manual for details.
