Sony is offering a firmware upgrade for the HXR-NX5N, HXR-NX5P, HXR-NX5U NXCAM camcorder. The applicable products are with the firmware version “Ver.3” or earlier. Firmware version 4.0 for the HXR-NX5N, HXR-NX5P, HXR-NX5U adds a new recording format: 720/60p (50p) HQ mode (approx. 9Mbps).

Added Feature: ”720/60p HQ” for NTSC version or “720/50p HQ” for PAL version selectable at the REC FORMAT MENU is good for shooting moving objects, yet thanks to its modest bit-rate is easy to upload and share while maintaining HD quality.
