[New Update] Notification of Free Replacement Battery Pack for the VGP-BPS26 in VAIO Personal Computer - Updated on 10 Apr 2025

Dear Valued Sony VAIO Customers,

This is an update to the announcement below.
 
Sony had provided free replacement for VGP-BPS26 battery packs used in some VAIO computer models since November 2016. As of this announcement, we will be ceasing this free replacement programme. Sony VAIO production had ended in 2014 and we are no longer able to provide replacement batteries for these products.

In the unlikely event that you are still using any of the Sony VAIO personal computer models and/or had not replaced the VGP-BPS26 battery pack, we strongly advise you to stop using the product. We also advise against purchasing or using non-original Sony batteries as Sony cannot guarantee the performance and safety of 3rd party batteries powering your Sony VAIO personal computer.

Dear Valued Sony VAIO Customers,

This is a new update for our March 2, 2016 announcement titled “Important Notification of Battery Pack VGP-BPS26 in VAIO Personal Computer.” It has just come to our attention that some of the VGP-BPS26 battery packs may be susceptible to overheating, due to another manufacturing issue. This has the potential to cause burns to the battery packs. We are implementing a free replacement program for the affected battery packs.

If you are using one of the VAIO personal computer models listed in the March 2, 2016 announcement, please confirm if your battery pack is one of those affected. If it is identified as an affected unit, please remove the battery pack immediately from your VAIO PC and contact your local Sony Contact Centre for further assistance. With the battery pack removed, you can continue to use your PC safely using the supplied AC adapter.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE CONFIRMATION ON YOUR BATTERY PACK IN RESPONSE TO OUR ANNOUNCEMENT ON MARCH 2, YOU ARE STILL REQUIRED TO RECONFIRM IF YOUR BATTERY PACK IS AFFECTED BY THIS CURRENT ISSUE.

Important Notification of Battery Pack VGP-BPS26 in VAIO Personal Computers

Dear Valued Sony VAIO Customers,

It has come to our attention that some of the VGP-BPS26 battery packs provided to us by Panasonic, which are used in VAIO E Series personal computers released in February 2013 as well as the below listed VAIO personal computers that have been submitted for repair in the past, may be susceptible to overheating, due to a manufacturing issue. This has the potential to cause burns to the battery packs. We are implementing a free replacement program for the affected battery packs.

If you are using one of the VAIO personal computer models listed below, please confirm if your battery pack is one of those affected. If it is identified as an affected unit, please immediately remove the battery pack from your PC. With the battery pack removed, you may continue to use your PC safely with an AC adapter in the meantime.
