How can I transfer data from one SD card to another? (Android 9.0 or higher)

Solution

To transfer data from one SD card to another please follow the steps below,

1. First transfer the data from the SD card to a computer or to the internal storage of your device.

   Details:   Transferring data from an SD card to the internal storage To transfer data from a memory card to the internal storage Android 9, 10, 11:   Find and tap Settings →Storage. Tap SD Card. Make sure the internal storage is visible by tapping the menu icon (three vertical dots). If Hide internal storage is shown, the internal storage is already visible. Otherwise, tap Show Internal Storage. Touch and hold the folder or file that you want to transfer. Tap the menu icon (three vertical dots) → Move to... / Copy to... Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines), and then tap . Select a destination on your internal memory and tap MOVE / COPY. Android 12 or higher: Find and tap Settings → Storage. Tap the pull-down menu under [Storage] and select [SD CARD]. Tap [Files] and touch and hold the folder or file that you want to transfer. Tap the menu icon (three vertical dots) → Move to... Copy to... Tap Select a destination on your internal memory and tap MOVE / COPY.

2. Turn off your device and remove the SD card. Insert the other SD card and turn on the device.
3. Then transfer the data to the SD card from the computer or from the internal storage.

   Details: Transferring data from the internal storage to an SD card To transfer media files from internal storage to a memory card (Only for Android 9) From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon. Find and tap Settings → Storage / Storage & memory → Transfer data to SD card / Transfer data. Mark the media file types you want to transfer to the memory card, then tap Transfer/TRANSFER. If you want to transfer other file types than media files, you can use the built-in file explorer. To transfer data from the internal storage to a memory card Android 9, 10, 11: Find and tap Settings → Storage → Internal shared storage. Find and tap Files. Touch and hold the folder or file that you want to transfer. Tap the menu icon (three vertical dots) → Move to... / Copy to... Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines), and then tap SD Card. Select a destination on the memory card and tap MOVE / COPY. Android 12 or higher: Find and tap Settings → Storage. Make sure that the pull-down menu under [Storage] is [THIS DEVICE], touch and hold the folder or file that you want to transfer. Tap the menu icon (three vertical dots) → Move to.. / Copy to.. Tap . Select a destination on the memory card and tap MOVE /COPY.

Connecting via USB

You can use a USB cable to connect your device to a computer to transfer and manage your files to and from the SD card in your device. Once the two devices are connected, you can use the Windows® computer's file explorer to drag and drop content between your computer and device, or between your device's internal storage and memory card.

To connect an Xperia device to a Windows® computer

1. Connect your Xperia device to a Windows® computer using a USB cable.
2. Xperia device: If prompted in the Allow access? dialog, tap ALLOW.
3. Computer: Open Microsoft® Windows® Explorer. Your Xperia device appears under Computer.
