Why the labels of the desktop icons are of a different color as compared to the wallpaper background?
The labels of the desktop icons are of a different color as compared to the wallpaper background. However, the desktop icons of other Windows® XP pre-installed machines are transparent to the wallpaper.
As some computers have white wallpaper background at the time of factory shipment, icons are not set to be transparent to ensure better visibility.
To make these icons transparent to the wallpaper, please follow the steps below:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer and click Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab and in the Performance box, click Settings.
3. In the Performance Options dialog box, enable the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option.
4. Click OK to close the dialog box.
