    Domestic Warranty Terms and Conditions (Sony Malaysia)

    General Terms and Conditions

    1. This limited warranty is valid for Sony Product purchase in Malaysia ONLY. It is non-transferable and shall not be eligible for international coverage.
       
    2. This limited warranty is INVALID when the factory-applied model and serial number is intentionally altered, modified or removed. Further, this limited warranty is deemed void should the product be altered, modified or repaired by any non-authorised persons or agencies.     3. This limited warranty shall only apply to Sony Products that have been registered for warranty at My Sony Rewards (My Sony Loyalty) and having valid Proof of Purchase.
       
    4. Sony warrants that the Sony Product is free from defect in materials and workmanship and in conformity with respective specifications of Sony Product, for a period stated in the table below -commencing from the date of delivery or date of purchase which is stated in Proof of Purchase.

    5. Sony shall, at Sony’s sole discretion, either repair Products or replace them with the equivalent products without charging any technical labor fee and repair parts cost to Customer, on the condition that customer brings Products to Sony’s authorized service shops within the warranty period. In case of repair or replacement, Sony shall own all the part removed from the defective Products. Sony may use new and/or reconditioned parts made by various manufacturers in performing warranty repairs and replacing Products. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any repair or replacement of the Sony Product, shall not under any circumstance extend the warranty period.
       
    6. This limited warranty covers only the hardware components contained in Product. It does not cover technical assistance for system hardware or software in setting up, installation, recovery, reformat and usage. It does not cover any software products contained in product; Sony excludes all warranties expressed or implied in respect of any software provided with Product and any such software is provided “AS IS” unless expressly provided for in any enclosed software limited warranty. Please refer to the End User License Agreements included with Products for Customers’ rights with regards to the manufacturer or supplier of the software parts if the Product and the parties’ respective obligations with respect to the software.
       
    7. With respect to all service provided, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BACKUP THE CONTENTS OF YOUR HARD DRIVE/INTERNAL MEMORY, INCLUDING ANY DATA YOU HAVE STORED OR SOFTWARE YOU HAVE INSTALLED ON THE HARD DRIVE/INTERNAL MEMORY PRIOR TO PRODUCT SERVICE. It is likely that those contents of your hard drive/internal memory will be lost or reformatted in the course of service and Sony will not be responsible for any damage to or loss of any programs, data or other information stored on any media or any part of any Product serviced hereunder or any consequential damages resulting thereof.
       
    8. Sony shall not be liable, under any circumstance, if the contents OF THE HARD DRIVE/INTERNAL MEMORY is ALTERED, DELETED, OR IN ANY WAY MODIFIED, During repair. The PRODUCT WILL BE RETURNED CONFIGURED AS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF SOFTWARE or any updated version of the Software). You are recommended to back up any data prior to any repair.
       
    9. Be sure to remove all third party hardware, software, features, part, options, alterations, and attachments prior to sending Product to Sony for service. Sony is not liable for any loss or damage to such third party parts.
       
    10. This warranty is limited and does not cover, inter alia, any consumable items (such as batteries) supplied with Product; any accessory products which is not contained in the Product (such as mouse, port replicator, AC adapter and speaker); cosmetic damages; damage or loss to any software programs, data, or removable storage media; or damage due to (1) acts of God, corrosion, accident, misuse, abuse, negligence, commercial use or modifications of Product; (2) improper operation or maintenance of Product; (3) connection to improper voltage supply; or (4) attempted repair by any other than a Sony authorized service facility.
       
    11. This limited warranty does not apply when the malfunction results from the use of  Products in conjunction with third-party accessories, products or ancillary or peripheral equipment (collectively “Third-Party Accessory”), or where it is determined by Sony that there is no fault with Product itself. Unless otherwise specifically stated, Sony does not warrant that the use of any Third-Party Accessory shall not cause any damage to the Product or to the Third-Party Accessory. Use of such Third-Party Accessory is at the Customer’s own risk.
       
    12. SONY EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR MERCHANTABLILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHALL SONY BE LIABLE FOR LOSS OF PRODUCT, SPECIAL, INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE SUSTAINED IN CONNECTION WITH SONY PRODUCT. THE LIMITED WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.
