Disclaimer : For purpose of this limited warranty and service, “Sony” means Sony Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (16202-H) for products (the “Product”) purchased from one of Sony’s official distributors, in Malaysia.

Introduction

Sony Extended Warranty (SEW) is an optional add-on for Sony product owners who wish to extend their original product warranty’s period. As an added benefit, SEW covers a one time claim from damages caused by lightning or fire. SEW is only offered from the time of purchase of the product, and post-purchase sign ups are not allowed.



  • SEW does not cover any incurred transportation charges.
  • Pls refer to terms & conditions stated at the back of SEW application form.
  • SEW does not cover Sony Display Projectors, LCD Monitors, PlayStation Products, Sony Ericsson Products and Sony Accessories.

What Are the Products Covered by SEW ?

  • Sony products that supply by Sony Malaysia
  • Products excluded: Sony Display Projectors, LCD Monitors, PlayStation Products, Sony Ericsson Products and Sony Accessories or any other products subject to Sony Malaysia Sdn Bhd's discretion
  • Sony product that are used within Malaysia and non-business or commercial purposes.
  • VAIO for personal office use is exempted

Terms and Conditions of Sony Extended Warranty (SEW)

  1. This Sony Extended Warranty contract is applicable for Sony Malaysia products and valid in Malaysia only.
  2. This Sony Extended Warranty coverage period is valid as stated in the certificate.
  3. This Contract provides free labour and parts replacement for all natural (manufacturer) defects arising from normal domestic use.
  4. The repair and replacement of any parts of the product will be at the option of Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
  5. All defective replaced spare parts shall not be returned to the owner.
  6. The Sony Extended Warranty contract covers services provided by Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and its Authorised Service Centres.
  7. The Sony Extended Warranty Certificate must be presented at Service Counter before any repairing or service job to be carried out.
  8. The Sony Extended Warranty Contract shall cover one time fault arising from lightning or damage caused by fire.

  9. The contract shall cover immediate lightning or damage caused by fire when purchased together with the specific Sony product.
  10. For television unit screen sizes with 21 inches and above that require home service after 24 months from the date of purchase, shall incur a fixed traveling and administration fees within the radius of 30km from Sony Service Centre.
  11. For television unit screen sizes with below 21 inches that required pick up services after 24 months from the date of purchase, fixed transportation charges shall be charged within the radius of 30km from Sony Service Centre.
  12. All claims on repair & replacement of parts should not exceed the product purchase price printed on the Sony Extended Warranty Certificate. Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd reserves the right to replace the product under extended contract, with a current equivalent model after attempt to repair the product fails.
  13. For other category products (except television unit) after 12 months from the date of purchase, pick up services are available with transportation charge within a radius of 30km from Sony Service Centre.
  14. Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd reserves the right to replace the product under Extended Warranty contract, with a current equivalent model after attempt to repair the product fails.
  15. In the event of theft this Extended Warranty contract is automatically cancelled with no refund.
  16. Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd reserves the right to terminate any extended warranty contract with no refund by written notice to the owner in the event that, in the opinion of Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the product is used for the purposes other than for which the product was originally designed i.e. domestic use.
  17. Extended Warranty Certificate will be issued to each customer within 45 days from the date of purchase. The completed and signed Sony Extended Warranty application form is not valid unless approved and issued with a certificate by Sony (M) Sdn Bhd within 45 days from date of submission. If the certificate is not received within the said period, kindly contact 1-300-88-1233.
  18. Extended Warranty does not cover:

  19. - When the products are used for business or commercial purpose (Computer for personal office use is exempted).
    - Accessories and consumable items such as batteries, tapes, charges, adaptors and all optional add-on parts.
    - Routine maintenance, adjustments, alignments or general cleaning.
    - Problems arising from or due to improper installation, weak or unclear signal reception due to reception or transmission problems from external causes.
    - Damage caused by natural disasters (earthquake, storm, flood, water, sand and pollution), theft, burglary, malicious damage, accidental external impact, animal and pest infestation or intrusion.
    - Damage or problems caused by improper or wrong voltage connection.
    - Problems or defects caused by tampering, conversion, unauthorized modifications or unauthorized repairs.
    - Serial number on the product has been altered, defaced in any way.
