Article ID:414766(modified 10 Mar 2011)

Applicable Models

DSC-TX10, DSC-TX9, DSC-WX5

Question

Estimate battery life span when recording a movie.

Answer

The following is the approximate movie recording time when using the supplied NP-BN1 battery pack.
- Continuous recording time (*1): approx. 60 minutes
- Practical recording time (*2): approx. 30 minutes

The length/size of one movie is limited as follows.
- AVCHD mode: up to approx. 29 minutes
- MP4 mode: up to approx. 29 minutes or 2GB

If it reaches the limit, the recording will automatically stop. If you want to continue recording, please press the shutter button again.

(*1): This is a rough standard of the recording time when recording continuously at a temperature of 25 degrees C using the fully charged battery.
(*2): This is a rough standard of the recording time when you repeatedly start/stop recording, turn the power on/off, or zoom. Operations other than recording, such as playback, are not included. The actual recording time may be shorter.

Note:
Battery performance varies depending on the ambient temperature. When the temperature is extremely low, the actual recording time may be shorter than indicated. In this case, it is recommended to put the battery in your pocket, etc. to warm it up, and insert it in your camera right before you start recording.
