What is PlayMemories Camera Apps?

PlayMemories Camera Apps are applications for Sony cameras which help to personalize your camera by adding new features of your choice. PlayMemories Camera Apps can make your camera easier to use, help refine your photos and take you in new creative directions.

How to get started?

All you need is access to Wi-Fi or a USB connection to a computer with internet access to install the PlayMemories Camera Apps.

Wi-Fi
Step 1: Connect your Sony camera to an available Wi-Fi network.
Step 2: Locate the "PlayMemories Camera Apps"from the application screen on your camera
Step 3: Choose an app and download the app to your camera and begin having fun.

USB
Step 1: Plug your Sony camera in using a USB cable connecting it to your computer
Step 2: Using the computer's web browser go to the www.sony.net/pmca website, and log-in.

  • PlayMemories camera app requires download with existing Sony Entertainment Network account.

Can I install applications to any digital cameras?

Please tell me how to change the registered credit card.

Sign in PlayMemories Camera Apps and click the Sign-in ID, or sign in the account management page of SEN (https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/). Then, select [Account] ⇒ [Billing Information] to change.

Please tell me how to delete the registered credit card.

Sign in PlayMemories Camera Apps and click the Sign-in ID, or sign in the account management page of SEN (https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/). Then, select [Account] ⇒ [Billing Information] to delete.

I have forgot the account name (or password) of Sony Entertainment Network (SEN). How can I use the account?

The account name of SEN is your e-mail address. If you forgot the password, click [Forgot Your Password?] on the sign-in screen of SEN to change your password.

Why is the registration to Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) required to purchase camera applications?

We adopted "Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account" as a common account for customers to use Sony's network services more conveniently. You can use other content service, such as music, movies, and games, with a single SEN account.

Do I need an account to check the application lineup?

No. You can see the application lineup page of the PlayMemories Camera Apps website without an account.

I already have a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account to use other services. Can I use that account for PlayMemories Camera Apps?

Is the creation of a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account free of charge?

Purchase

Can I purchase applications with a sub account?

You can purchase applications with a sub account if you charge the wallet on your master account and set the monthly spending limit for the sub account. Sign in PlayMemories Camera Apps with the master account and click the Sign-in ID, or sign in the account management page of SEN https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. Then, select [Account] ⇒ [Account Details] to make the necessary setting.

What payment options are available?

To purchase applications, you need to charge the online wallet linked with your Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account, and then pay from the wallet. If your credit card information is registered in your account, the application fee is automatically charged and paid when you purchase the application. If your credit card information is not registered, you can charge your wallet with "PlayStation Network Card / Ticket".

Please tell me how to charge the wallet.

Sign in PlayMemories Camera Apps and click the Sign-in ID, or sign in the account management page of SEN https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. Then, select [Account] ⇒ [Wallet] to charge your wallet. If your credit card information is registered in your account, the application fee is automatically charged and paid when you purchase the application. If your credit card information is not registered, you can charge your wallet with "PlayStation Network Card / Ticket".

I want to return the purchased application and get a refund. What should I do?

We do not accept return of applications nor offer a refund for them. Please carefully check the description and end user's license agreement of the application before you purchase it.

Can I purchase applications even if I do not have a computer?

You can purchase applications by connecting the supported camera to Wi-Fi. However, you cannot create an account with the camera. To create an account, you can use devices such as PS3 or Sony Tablet, as well as a computer.

Can I use "PlayStation Network Card / Ticket" to purchase applications?

Yes, you can. Sign in PlayMemories Camera Apps and click the Sign-in ID, or sign in the account management page of SEN https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. Then, select [Account] ⇒ [Redeem Prepaid Card] and enter the code of "PlayStation Network Card / Ticket". You can charge the wallet and purchase applications.

I got the supported camera from my friend. Can I use the application purchased by my friend?

Applications can be used only by those who purchased them. Applications are not transferable. If you got the camera from others, execute [Initialize] ⇒ [Factory Reset].

I do not have a network environment, but I want to purchase applications. What should I do?

To purchase and download applications provided by PlayMemories Camera Apps, you need to have a network environment where you can connect to the internet.

When can I start using the purchased application?

You can use it as soon as you install it in the supported camera.

Is there a trial period for the applications on sale?

A trial period is not provided. Please read the description of the application before you make purchase.

Where can I purchase a camera that supports applications sold in PlayMemories Camera Apps?

You can purchase it in Sony stores or major electronics retail stores. For the supported models, please check "Get started" on the top page of the PlayMemories Camera Apps website.

Can I purchase applications with a smart phone or tablet?

You cannot purchase applications from devices other than a computer or camera, or on unsupported environment. For the supported environment, please check "Supported Environment" on the top page of the PlayMemories Camera Apps website.

Can I purchase applications with a Mac?

Yes, you can. For the supported model and environment, please check "Supported Environment" on the top page of the PlayMemories Camera Apps website.

Can I purchase applications directly with the camera using public Wi-Fi environment?

Yes, you can. For how to connect to public Wi-Fi environment, please check the information from the public Wi-Fi service provider.

Can I purchase applications even if I do not have a camera?

To purchase applications, you need to have a camera with the PlayMemories Camera Apps service supported. For the supported models, please check "Get started" on the top page of the PlayMemories Camera Apps website.

Can I transfer the purchased application to others?

Applications can be used only by those who purchased them. Applications are not transferable. If you give your camera to others, we recommend resetting the camera. By executing [Initialize] ⇒ [Factory Reset] from the [Setup] menu on the camera, you can delete your account information and applications.

Can I download the purchased application repeatedly?

The number of devices where the application can be downloaded is specified in each application. To the same camera, you can download the purchased application repeatedly as long as the service/application is available. However, you may need to purchase the application again if you reset the camera by executing [Initialize] ⇒ [Factory Reset], or if you registered an account different from the one you used to purchase it.

Installation

I cannot install the purchased application. What should I do?

You can refer to how to download and install applications from PlayMemories Camera Apps  for installing the applications on your camera using a computer. If the problem persists after retrying, please contact Sony.

I want to make a backup of the application installed in the camera. How should I do it?

Camera applications cannot be saved in a computer or external memory as a backup. Even if the purchased application is accidentally deleted from the camera, you can download it again as long as the service/application is available.

I have accidentally deleted the purchased application. What should I do to download and install it again?

The purchased application can be downloaded again even if it is deleted as long as the service/application is available. Connect the camera to the computer, or access the PlayMemories Camera Apps website directly from the camera via Wi-Fi, select the application you deleted, and select the [Install] button to download and install it again.

How can I check if the installation of the application is completed?

Check [Menu] ⇒ [Application] on the camera. If the purchased application is added, the installation is completed.

I have multiple units of the same camera (supported model). How can I purchase the application to install it in all the units?

With one purchase, you can install the application in up to 10 units of the supported camera. To install in more than 10 units, finish installing in 10 units first, and then purchase the same application again.

Note: The number of cameras, into which the application can be installed with one purchase, may be different depending on applications.

Please tell me how to check the available capacity of the memory where applications are installed.

You can check it from [Menu] ⇒ [Application Management] ⇒ [Manage and Remove] on the camera. Alternatively, access the PlayMemories Camera Apps website from the computer, connect the camera via USB, and select the [Connect your camera] button to check the capacity.

Can I install applications to any digital cameras?

Applications can be installed only in cameras with the PlayMemories Camera Apps service supported. You can refer to how to find free/paid PlayMemories Camera Apps that can be downloaded in your country

Why can't I download and install PlayMemories Camera Apps for my Mac?

The latest version of PlayMemories Camera App only supports OS X V10.9 or later. If you still cannot download camera applications successfully, please select the appropriate USB connection mode on your camera and then retry.

Connection

I cannot make a Wi-Fi connection to the PlayMemories Camera Apps website from the camera.

A static IP address cannot be used. Set the DHCP function on the access point to ON, and select [Access Point Setting] ⇒ [IP Address Setting] ⇒ [Auto] on your camera.
